Social media has exploded with wacky video game mods that combine titles the public never thought they'd see together. People are driving Mario Kart vehicles in Call of Duty Zombies, fighting Elden Ring bosses with Minecraft characters, and even swinging around Batman's Gotham City as Spider-Man.

This is all possible thanks to gamers using Claude AI agents to vibe code the mods from the ground up. Merging games uses a "passthrough mod," according to a popular GitHub guide, which runs the two games simultaneously, with one hosting the world while the other supplies the gameplay—i.e., movement and combat.

Vibe coding requires the user to tell the AI model what they want, test the outcomes, and provide feedback—leaving the AI model to do all the coding itself. The GitHub guide claims it took three to four hours to merge Elden Ring and Spider-Man, although it warned that first results are often rough around the edges.

Some gamers say that this is "one of the coolest things I’ve seen in gaming in 10+ years" and that it marks the dawn of "the renaissance of gaming." Here are some of the best AI video game modding mashups.

Kickflipping in Call of Duty

One of the first mashups to go viral combined cult classic Skate with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, allowing gamers to skateboard across their favourite maps.

"Imagine hitting a trick shot with this. We will see clips soon, any moment now," one X user posted. "This is the greatest thing that will ever happen in Call of Duty," another said.

Minecraft vs Elden Ring

Perhaps the most viral of all the video game merges is Minecraft in Elden Ring.

With this mod, not only can you use Minecraft weapons and teleport with an Ender Pearl, but you can access 1,600 Minecraft items, create fully functioning redstone contraptions, and even enter creative mode. That's not to mention you can spawn mobs using eggs, meaning creepers can fight Elden Ring's iconic boss Malenia for you.

Bored of the Minecraft options? The mod also allows you to add in Black Ops guns, so you can quickly switch between Minecraft and Call of Duty weapons in the heat of battle.

Unfortunately, its creator, Toby Jacobs, has yet to release the mod to the public. He claims to be open to the idea, but says he'll have to create a Windows port as it was developed for Mac.

Spider-Man in Batman's hometown

In possibly the most egregious copyright infringement, Marvel's Spider-Man can be seen swinging through Batman's Gotham City thanks to another viral mod.

"Marvel and DC are friends now," one X user posted. "Wait 'til I get a DMCA," the mod creator replied, joking about the potential copyright infringement.

Trickshotting Minecraft villagers

A modder added Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 weapons into the world of Minecraft and started trickshotting villagers with the iconic Intervention sniper rifle.

The villagers didn't pose much of a threat, as the player hit a 25-kill streak and called in a tactical nuke. Yep, in Minecraft.

Mario Kart in Call of Duty Zombies

Finally, gamers have managed to put Mario Kart into the Call of Duty: World at War Zombies game mode. Players are tripping up zombies with bananas and driving them over to get kills.

"[We got] Mario Kart in World at War Zombies before GTA 6," an X user joked. "WHAT THE FCK IS GOING ON," another shouted. Well, now you know.
